Smo-co was inspired by a passion for American BBQ and Americana music, shaped by travels across the Southern U.S.

After tasting authentic BBQ and experiencing the culture, we started with a custom-built smoker, mastering fire management.

What began as a small venture turned into years of perfecting flavours, crafting rubs, and refining our BBQ techniques through dedication and trips back to the U.S.

In 2018, we purchased our first commercial BBQ trailer smoker and travelled across the UK, bringing our BBQ to various shows and events. Whilst it was an incredible experience, the constant travel wasn’t ideal for family life. So, we began searching for a permanent location.

We found a small courtyard in our hometown of Petersfield, Hampshire. Initially, we were unsure about the foot traffic since it was on the edge of town, but we couldn’t have been more wrong. Within just two weeks, we were selling out, within three hours. The every night local response was fantastic, with loyal customers returning regularly—even some travelling 30 miles each week just to get a taste of our BBQ.

After about a year we were introduced to our new good friend Mr Swan a legend in the sound engineering industry this is where we started our collaboration of BBQ and music wherever Mr Swan went we would go putting together an experience of Country/Americana live music with BBQ soul food What a combo!.
